The bottles in your fridge door, remade from ingredients you can name. Each recipe opens with an honest note on what's in the store version (seed oils, corn syrup, EDTA, MSG, colors), then the clean recipe, yield, storage, and swaps.

The one everyone asks about. Thick enough to dip, loose enough to pour.
What's in the bottle. A typical bottle of shelf-stable ranch is built on soybean or canola oil, then held together and preserved with MSG, disodium phosphate, phosphoric acid, sorbic acid, calcium disodium EDTA, and 'artificial flavors.' None of that is there to make it taste better. It is there so a bottle can sit in a warehouse for a year. The herbs are usually dried and a little dusty. Homemade takes ten minutes and tastes like an actual garden.
Yield: About 1 1/2 cups (twelve 2-tbsp servings)
Storage: Refrigerate in a sealed jar up to 7 days (or until the buttermilk's date, whichever is first). Stir before using. Do not freeze.
